_JPG.jpg)
This 4-day workshop will help students understand some of the power and painterly effects seen in many of the old masters painting. Participants will explore the art of unifying observed reality with imaginative or stylized representation which is characteristic of the old master’s artistic sensibilities. Artists have always been inspired and challenged by the work of the old masters. By studying their work, it will enable them to solve problems as well as aquiring knowledge of various methods and techniques of paint application.
Participants will work from a high-quality reproduction to produce a copy of the painting and learn the specialized techniques for copying master works. The course will include master drawing techniques, tracing and copying, including organizing palette, mixing colors and preparation of mediums, brush strokes, blending and value scales.
This course is for beginners to other levels of skill. Group sizes are kept quite small, so each participant gets a lot of one-to-one attention from the instructor.
