28 - 30 January
Andy Nabong
Workshop: " Flower Painting "
This class focuses on flower painting in oils. Participating artists will learn to create an alla-prima floral painting from life that celebrates the beauty of flowers with freshness, sensitivity and lively detail. Andy will guide artists with daily demonstrations and in-depth personal critiques through each stage of the process – from creating a strong design with careful drawing, to color mixing, modeling form and finishing details. Basic botany, materials, paint handling, and the physics of light will also be discussed.
Andy has been passionate about art since early childhood. He attended classes at The Art Students League and Grand Central Academy, both in New York City. He also studied at the Academy of Realist Art in Canada, Florence Academy of Art in Italy, and in 2019 received a certificate from the Russian Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he went for an internship. Andy finds inspiration for his paintings and drawings from the tradition of Bouguereau, Velasquez, Rubens, Caravaggio, Rembrandt and the Renaissance painters. He has traveled extensively in Europe to study the art of the old masters. He has had several exhibitions in the USA and his workscan be found in both American and European private collections. He is an active member of the Portrait Society of America, and of the Austrian Professional Association of Visual Artists (Berufsvereinigung der bildenden Künstler Österreichs).
