Introduction into Painting and Drawing (Wednesdays 5-8 pm)

This course is aimed at all art enthusiasts and those interested for all from 15 to the age of 21. We will explore and discuss some classic techniques and methods in painting and drawing and systematically practice foundations of composition and layer built up in the tradition of the old masters. A feeling for the different drawing and painting materials (pencil, charcoal, tempera, oil, acrylic, etc.) and supports (e.g. paper, wood, canvas) will also be developed, thus opening up a horizon for your own experiments. We will be inspired by art history.

Discovering and encouraging your own interests and promoting the individual talents of the participants is an important guiding principle, so the program can also serve as a preparation to a University course in art or in art-design.

The students are guided by means of technical - manual and conceptual instructions, corrections, individual dialogue and group discussions. No previous knowledge is needed and what is the most important aspect is the "joy of exploring and learning".

The course will be given by Manuel Niederhafner in German and English, and will be limited to 10 students. It will run from Wednesday (2. September 2020) and will be held on a weekly basis from 5 pm to 8 pm. Classes will be held at VATA in a large room and easels, benches and all of the required materials are made available.

The fees would amount to 30 Euros per 3-hour class or 100 Euros per month. If interested, you can register on this Meetup or by email. Payment can be made in advance or upon arrival. For more information, please email us at info@viennaatelier.at or SMS at 0676-696-6127.
