This workshop explores the art of flower painting in oils, with an emphasis on direct observation, traditional painting principles, and the freshness of an alla prima approach. Working from life, participants will learn to capture the beauty and character of flowers through sensitive brushwork, harmonious colour, and lively detail.
Over the course of two and a half days, each participant will paint a small bouquet of their own design, working directly and building the painting through a considered process of observation and execution. Andy will guide participants through every stage of the process, offering daily demonstrations and individual critiques.
Throughout the workshop, particular attention will be given to the fundamentals of realistic painting, including essential botanical observation, materials and their handling, colour mixing, and the study of light, shadow, and tonal values.
To ensure a focused learning environment and personal guidance, participation is limited to 10 artists.
