Description:
The aim of this class will be to give the students a clear strategy and techniques for mastering one of the biggest challenges in traditional art: drawing the figure from life. The class will include demos on set-up and anatomical construction as well as some theory on drawing from observation and rendering light and form as it applies to the human figure.


Biography:
Jan Paul Wolff is a German born Austrian painter and multimedia artist trained in the visual arts from the age of 14. At the Florence Academy of Art he received a diploma in 2023 with a perfect score. He is studying traditional oil painting methods of the old masters and tries to get as close as possible to their techniques and understanding of materials and design. Jan Paul is concerned with atmosphere and mood - an essential quality to art, specifically oil painting. He believes by trying to connect to the chain of realist tradition one will be able to reach a wide audience - the viewer will always be able to have an immediate reaction to realism - a known built in psychologically charged visual realm.
